We are Stephen and Elliott - a father and son, respectively - who came up with the idea for SCORUGGER! (and the word itself, of course) in March 2022. Both season ticket holders at our local top-flight rugby club, we decided to work on the project together as a wide-ranging school project, covering computer studies, mathematics, business studies and plenty of rugby.

 

Over the next few months, we amassed the required archive of match results, programmed spreadsheets to identify SCORUGGERS!, designed this website, pondered how to spread the word about SCORUGGER! on social media, designed a truly superb range of mugs, and identified a host of rugby-related charities that are doing amazing work to help those in need - which brings us to the SCORUGGER! Club.

The SCORUGGER! Club is at the heart of our purpose. While we were first interested in celebrating the uniqueness of rugby through its ability to provide never-seen-before scores, we very quickly saw that the project could achieve more than the fun of statistical quirks. In launching the SCORUGGER! Club, we hope that the brilliant people that love this game can build a rugby community for good, which will help these charities do more for more people.

Having worked through a mighty to-do list, we launched this website in June 2022 and, at the same time, started to provide updates on all-things-SCORUGGER! via Twitter and Instagram.

So far, so good. It's been a fascinating project for us to share, and we hope that continues to be fun, interesting and rewarding for all.
